If you’re reading this, you probably know what Laddawn does. We sell bags (to distributors). We sell plenty of other stuff, too, but gosh do we ever have bags of all different styles and shapes. You know what, though? Not every post has to be about polyethylene, micron-to-mil conversions, or the science behind VCI technology.
Today we’re going to have some fun. As is the case with most office set-ups, I sit in an area with a group of diverse people who have diverse tastes. There is a lot of entertaining conversation about a lot of topics and some of them won’t make it to this blog for fear of terrible repercussion. But we do talk a lot about music, which has been scientifically proven to improve mood.
With that said, I thought it would be fun to put together a playlist of some songs with the word “bag” in the title. Some are old, some are new, all are entertaining! So sit back, relax and enjoy our first entertainment offering. If you like it that much, the Spotify playlist of all these songs is down below. Here we go…
“Little Green Bag” – George Baker Selection
I cannot profess to knowing anything about this band, but a quick Wikipedia search tells me that George Baker is a 71 year old Dutch singer. This song is from 1970, fits right in with the era and actually hit #21 on the Billboard charts. Interesting.
“Paper Bag” – Fiona Apple
The somewhat mopey, arty piano-playing musician of the late ’90s and early ’00s released this song in 1999 on an album that went platinum. This is part and parcel to her catalog – piano driven and mid-tempo.
“Punchin’ Bag” – Cage the Elephant
Indie-rockers from Bowling Green, Kentucky, who couldn’t take their jobs as plumbers, sandwich bar waiters, telemarketers and Lowe’s clerks. So they quit and almost out of nowhere became underground darlings.
“Papa’s Got a Brand New Bag” – James Brown
Well, of course. Maybe the most popular song ever with thew word “bag” in the title.
“Another Bag of Bricks” – Flogging Molly
Do you like Irish rock? I don’t mean U2. I mean chugging, moving, accordion-driven Irish rock? That’s what you’re getting here. Glorious.
“Sleeping Bag” – ZZ Top
The southern blues boogie band uncorked this song in 1985 and I can’t remember specifically, but I think it’s safe to guess that there was an old car and barely-dressed women in the video.
“Sleeping Bag” – Beck
Another sleeping bag song? Yes. Much different than the ZZ Top one, this is from one of Beck’s earliest albums. The Grammy-winning darling of many went through a bit of an experimental roots-rock phase here.
“Holding the Bag” – Moe Bandy & Joe Stampling
I’m not really sure what’s going on in this song. It sounds like it could be an old Merle Haggard song that was so bad that he threw it in the trash, then Moe and Joe happened to be walking down the street and found it in the trash. I wish that was actually true.
“Bag Into Bag” – Jon Malkin
Maybe even more inexplicable than Moe & Joe’s epic anthem. Let’s just say if you like disco beats and borderline singing voices, you’ll be in heaven. There’s something strongly appealing here at the core, I just can’t tell you for the life of me what it is.
…and here’s your Spotify playlist. Have a great time.
