It’s been a year of unprecedented challenges for America’s packaging distributors and manufacturers.  Invariably, at the heart of every delay and bottleneck lies a business constrained by labor. The U.S. entered the fall months with 10.4 million job openings. Nearly 1 million are in manufacturing, up 3X from 2020. Nearly 1 in 2 small businesses are reporting that they have positions they simply cannot fill.

Still, as we close out 2021, there are reasons to feel optimistic. It’s been said that life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react. Today, America’s best businesses are overcoming sourcing and service challenges in spite of labor shortages. They’re emerging as more agile, resilient, capable enterprises. Here at Laddawn, even as staffing challenges persist, lead times are falling and on-time shipments are up.

Most recently, we’re delivering again on the promise of industry-leading lead times on our largest extrusion lines in all 5 of our manufacturing facilities. In our Sparks, Nevada plant, lead times are down across the board. Our Atlanta, Dallas, Sterling and Manchester facilities are improving, too. If you haven’t logged on to check lead times on larger items like pallet top covers, Gaylord liners and other large bags or sheeting lately, take a fresh look. Back orders are down and on-time shipping performance is up.

On the product front, the theme of this catalog is Food Service Packaging. Informed by your feedback, we continue to fill out a robust offering. Today, you’ll find over 120 stock items in a dozen product categories. It all starts on page 64. You’ll find stock Polypropylene Zipper Top, Wicketed, Resealable Lip & Tape, Layflat and Gusseted bags. You’ll also find Polyethylene Wicketed Bags, Nylon Vacuum Pouches and Stand Up Pouches in 4 stock film types. Then, we round out our line up with Slider Tops, Saddle Pack Deli, Ice and Sandwich and Silverware bags. Better still, almost all items are available in custom sizes or films. Custom printing is available, too.

We enter the holiday season encouraged by our progress. Of course, an improving U.S. labor force remains crucial to a full recovery. Yet, for American manufacturers like Laddawn, it is about becoming more capable enterprises in these moments, too. Thank you for your patience and support that makes our progress possible.

On behalf of all of us in Atlanta, Dallas, Devens, Manchester, Sparks and Sterling, thank you for your business. Happy Holidays!
